The first Skin First clinic was opened in Courtenay in 2020 by Dr Paul Herselman and Dr Louis Huisamen. Each of these physicians has practiced family and emergency medicine for many years. After obtaining their postgraduate diplomas in dermatology, they partnered to open Skin First to help the many Comox Valley residents who suffer from inflammatory skin conditions.
